Orlando's character leads to controversy when Woolf presents the protagonist's gender transformation process from a man into a woman, making some readers and critics view this transformation from a purely physical angle that does not provide social progress. This research provides mental interpretations of the androgyny theory that has nothing to do with the implications of the physical side but calls for bits of help in the evolution of human behaviour as if Woolf's androgynous mind is an invitation for men's and women's brains to recognize each other completely. Significantly, Virginia Woolf‘s Orlando novel establishes the primary data of this thesis. Thus, the researcher uses the content-based analysis, which is one of the examination devices that focuses on the content itself in connection with the chosen theories applied to the selected text. Moreover, the current thesis reviews the androgyny theory with access to Feminism and Psychoanalysis. This research‘s theoretical value is to submit a valid interpretation of Woolf's androgynous mind and novel that helps researchers in distinguishing the actual assumptions and allegations from the fake ones adequately. The current thesis directs the reader to the correct path of Woolf's "Androgynous Mind Theory", which highlights the mental side of Androgyny. It also shows that Woolf uses an androgynous character in order to deliver her feminist thoughts indirectly. Besides, it manifests that women play a prominent role in creative writings like their men counterparts. This research emphasizes that the androgynous mind is about improving the mental perception between man and woman, rather than the physical side's supporter‘s claims. The research embodies the feministic and psychological factors that affect Orlando. Additionally, it covers an extensive range of feminist and androgynous issues throughout history. It clarifies the impact of applying the mental and physical sides of androgyny on the interpretation of Orlando. Besides, the thesis concludes that Woolf‘s androgynous mind is nothing but a tool to improve males‘/females‘ relationships by utilizing the mental side of androgyny and discarding the physical one. It further confirms that Woolf disguises her feminist thoughts within the androgynous mind theory and psychoanalysis through the shift between masculinity and femininity in Orlando. Thus, it enables the reader to grasp the possible meanings and hidden messages of Woolf‘s literary works. Dissertations, Academic Thesis
