However, the government faces obstacles in fulfilling the country's aspirations when drug-abuse inmates dominate the prison population, affecting Malaysian life satisfaction. The Malaysian Prison Department faces tremendous challenges in managing overcrowded, underequipped basic needs and understaffed prisons, leading to low life satisfaction among drug-abuse inmates. With the advent of social marketing, the government now has proven ways for addressing these issues and bringing about a variety of desirable societal improvements. Previous studies have proven that various factors, including prison climate, social support, and quality of life, contribute significantly to inmates' life satisfaction. However, no studies has examined the relationship of prison climate, social support, quality of life, and life satisfaction simultaneously in one model among drug-abuse inmates. Therefore, the study's objectives are, first, to determine the effect of prison climate on social support; second, to determine the effect of social support on quality of life; third, to determine the effect of quality of life on life satisfaction; fourth, to determine the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between prison climate and quality of life, and lastly, to determine the mediating effect of quality of life on the relationship between social support and life satisfaction. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to the respondents after pre-tests and pilot tests. This study used a cross-sectional research design involving 457 drug-abuse inmates in Malaysian prisons. The respondents' selection was based on simple random sampling techniques using a sampling framework from the list of inmate numbers provided by the Malaysian Prison Department. The IBM SPSS AMOS 24.0 was used to analyse the structural equation modelling (SEM) and tested the proposed model and research hypotheses. Hypotheses testing revealed the significant effect of prison climate on social support, social support on quality of life, and quality of life on life satisfaction. The findings also prove that social support plays a full mediator role on the relationship between prison climate and quality of life, while the quality of life serves as a partial mediator on the relationship between social support and life satisfaction. The structural model indicates that the life satisfaction construct has 50% of the total variance explained by prison climate, social support, and quality of life. The study contributed to the theoretical implications by suggesting a new structural model that examined the relationship between prison climate, social support, quality of life, and life satisfaction related to the dynamic security theory, the social convoy theory, the maqasid shariah theory, and the social comparison theory. The study also suggested several practical contributions to the prison management, prison officers, and drug-abuse inmates to enhance drug-abuse inmates' life satisfaction in Malaysian prisons. Future research should include other variables that probably could explain further the variance of life satisfaction. Dissertations, Academic Sila masukkan subject wajib Dissertations, Academic.
