Studies on learning transfer have shown some evidence on the impact on the performance of these programs. However, there is a limited assessment of individual participants before the program; fulfilment is known about sustaining transfer of learning after the educational program or the effect on performance improvement for participants. Thus, this study aims to examine the Upstream Operation Induction Program (UOIP) impact on performance among PETRONAS CARIGALI (PCSB) young engineers at Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP). The study determined organisational management as a mediator between personal traits, training, support, and supervisor attributes. Further, it analysed UOIP participants who transferred what they had learned to the work setting and, if so, whether that learning was perceived to have resulted in performance improvement. This quantitative study used a survey research design involving 127 out of 171 participants of UOIP at INSTEP from batch three to batch nine. This study aim at engineers at PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Berhad. The data is collected through questionnaires modified from the Bates, Elwood Holton & Hatala Learning Transfer System Inventory (LTSI). The descriptive analysis is employed to obtain the mean value of each factor to determine if the factor significantly impacts the performance. Using the Structural Equation Modelling statistical package, the instrument measures the impact and identifies the relationship between UOIP, young engineers and implementation. All the exogenous variables levels are high and significant to the performance effectiveness and interact with each other; hence, each factor is crucial in improving educational effectiveness. The pattern shows that the participants perceive the support needed throughout their training. The findings also demonstrate that personal traits, training, support, supervisor, and organisational management must be available to stimulate training and effectiveness. The outcome indicates that organisational management mediates the rapport among personal traits, training, support, supervisor, and performance. This study makes several theoretical contributions and provides further insights into the learning transfer impact on performance among graduates of educational training in oil and gas upstream operations in Malaysia. It recommends the existing individual assessment and the consideration of teamwork assessment for such training participants. This study suggests that organisational practitioners and researchers in oil and gas activity training holistically increase organisational effectiveness globally.
