However, the market penetration rate for family Takaful remains relatively low and does not meet its potential market. Additionally, evidence shows that a significant number of family Takaful participants surrender their certificates each year. This suggests that the Takaful industry is facing challenges in retaining its existing family Takaful participants. In the new global economy, service providers, including the Takaful industry, are competing to develop and retain customers (participants) by enhancing loyalty. Therefore, it is vital for the Takaful industry in Malaysia to focus on participant retention by understanding loyalty tendencies. This research aims to examine the effect of innovation attributes, trust, and relationship commitment on participants' loyalty in family Takaful. Additionally, the study seeks to explore the mediating role of trust and relationship commitment, which can contribute to a deeper understanding of loyalty. A quantitative research approach was adopted to achieve the study's objectives. Stratified random sampling and simple random sampling techniques were employed, and questionnaires were distributed to 500 family Takaful participants in Malaysia. Out of the 500 questionnaires distributed, 332 were returned, yielding a response rate of 66 percent. The collected data were analyzed using appropriate statistical software, including the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0 and the AMOS program version 21.0. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was applied to the survey data. The findings indicated that innovation attributes had a significant effect on trust, relationship commitment, and loyalty. Trust had a significant effect on relationship commitment, but the results showed that trust did not have a significant direct effect on loyalty. Relationship commitment, however, had a significant effect on loyalty. Additionally, the study revealed that trust partially mediated the relationship between innovation attributes and relationship commitment. However, trust did not mediate the relationship between innovation attributes and loyalty. Furthermore, the findings provided evidence that relationship commitment partially mediated the relationship between innovation attributes and loyalty. Moreover, relationship commitment fully mediated the relationship between trust and loyalty. The results of this research provide valuable insights for the Takaful industry in Malaysia by offering empirical data on participant loyalty in family Takaful. Additionally, these findings contribute to the existing literature by serving as a reference for understanding consumer behavior patterns, particularly in the Takaful industry context.
