However, the opposite is what is observed in Hausa society as compared to other ethnics in Nigeria despite that Hausas were widely known for their commercial activities as far back as before 16th century before the colonial invasion. Despite the gravity of the issues and evidences suggesting differences in entrepreneurial culture to be a possible cause to the underdevelopment of Hausa entrepreneurship, yet studies and relevant stakeholders have ignored that angle so as to boost their entrepreneurship development. Hence, this study is set to examine variances in entrepreneurial culture between Hausa and Igbos through culture, entrepreneurial self-efficacy and success factors with a view to develop an appropriate model suitable for the entrepreneurship development of the Hausas. This qualitative study adopted a case study approach using purposive sampling to conduct semi-structured face-to-face interviews with ten Hausa and Igbo entrepreneurs in Kano, Nigeria. All data collected were analysed using thematic content analysis. The findings reveal that, first, eight cultural dimensions consisting of power distance, uncertainty avoidance, collectivism, assertiveness, gender inequality, humane orientation, future orientation and performance orientation to be contributing to differences in entrepreneurial culture among the entrepreneurs. Second, the finding indicated differences in entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) of the entrepreneurs as Igbos proved to be more competent in marketing, management, risk-taking, and financial control skills than Hausas; while both entrepreneurs are at par in terms of innovation. Meanwhile, ethics in business and perseverance were two key new key findings that were discovered. Third, the finding identified six domains of key success factors namely: environment, networks, financial matters, administration, supports as well as human capital that proved to be significant to both entrepreneurs. Eventually, the developed model offers a framework to relevant stakeholders which that would facilitate in boosting the entrepreneurship development of the Hausas as well as create a more sustainable socio-economic development of the society. The study has equally contributed to the body of knowledge by highlighting the significance of the key new findings for consideration into institutional theory. While the model was particularly designed for Hausa entrepreneurs in Kano, its significance could be far more outreaching by lending its applicability to other Hausa entrepreneurs in Nigeria and beyond.
