One of the industries that are affected by the IT revolution is the tourism industry, particularly the hospitality industry. Hotel managers rely heavily on information provided by the Accounting Department to assist them in decision making and guide them in financial and profit planning. However, the importance of the Accounting Information System (AIS) in the tourism sector is not well researched in the academic literature. Therefore, the first objective of this study is to examine the effects of four determinants which are AIS, top management support, innovation, and the organizational learning on hotel performance while the second objective is to determine the role of users’ satisfaction as a moderator in the relationship between the AIS, top management support, innovation, organizational learning, and hotel performance. Managers and Assistant Managers of Accounting Department, Internal Auditors, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Accountants, and Payroll Accountants at five, four, and three-stars hotels in Jordan form the population for this study. A total of 400 respondents from the sampled hotels were chosen based on cluster sampling technique. Self-administered questionnaires were sent through emails to the respondents during the last quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021. A total of 303 questionnaires were returned and 274 were usable for the analysis. This study reveals that AIS, top management support, innovation, and organizational learning have significant direct effects on hotel performance. As for the indirect effect, the result shows that only users’ satisfaction moderates the effect of AIS on hotel performance. Theoretically, this study suggests a conceptual framework for enhanced understanding of the determinants of the performance in Jordan. Furthermore, this research also provides a comprehensive review of the role of user’s satisfaction in strengthening the impact of AIS on hotel performance. As for practical implications, the government and policymakers alike should increase the funding and incentives for investment in AIS in the hotel and tourism industry to support growth and development of the country. Future research should incorporate other variables such as comparative skill formation and entrepreneurial orientation in addressing the determinants of hotel performance and the hospitality industry.
