However, in this case, Pakistan faces problem in retaining faculty members at government universities. Hence, the strategic plan for maintaining academic staff is a critical issue in Pakistan's higher education institutions. This study attempted to analyze the mediating role of organizational commitment and job embeddedness between human resource management practices and turnover intentions. By introducing the variables of organizational commitment and job embeddedness into academic management, it can help to study the process of turnover intentions. This study employs quantitative research. Data is collected from the faculty members that are serving in ten government universities located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect responses from faculty members. The framework of the study was tested using the Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The hypothesis testing was done with the help of bootstrapping. Path coefficients and tstatistics were used to support hypothesis testing. The results of the study show that compensation is the most influential factor to reduce turnover intentions. It was found that organizational commitment and job embeddedness mediate between HRM practices and turnover intentions. This study will benefit higher education leaders by helping to retain faculty staff. It will also be helpful in suggesting the most suitable human resource management practices to enhance organizational commitment and job embeddedness that help to reduce turnover intentions of the faculty staff. This study shows that turnover intentions can be best explained with the help of organizational commitment and job embeddedness.
