However, there is a scarcity of preventive practices, unsatisfactory management commitment and absence of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OSHMS) among Jordanian companies. The result is evident in their higher accident rates and lower percentage of OSHMS certified companies. This is a consequence of the general belief among firms that investing in safety is a cost, and thus has a negative eflbct on their profits and competitiveness. Moreover, there is very little research done where OSHMS is integrated into Total Quality Management (TQM). This study attempts to integrate the concept of OSHMS within the perspective of TQM as part of a corporate strategy. Business Excellence strategy implementation, encompassing the concept of OSHMS is also discussed. The need for research on the enablers of OSHMS and its impact on the organizational performance is underlined by limited research. From the industrial perspective, the economic situation in a country such as Jordan is a factor. The purpose of this study is to model the intenelationships among OSH enablers and their results based on OSH Excellence in the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). A quantitative and cross-sectional research was conducted to examlne a proposed model consisting ol six enablers (leadership, policy and strategy, people management, resources and partnerships, continuous improvement and prevention, and process management) to accomplish a set ofplanned people and business results. Fourteen assumptions were hypothesized to explain the interactions among these enablers and results. The targeted respondents of the sfudy were the management of large companies from different economic sectors in Jordan. The self-administered questionnaire using a five-point inlerval scale was sent online to a randomly selected 209 large companies from the directory of Social Security Corporation. The study employed Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using IBM-SPSS-AMOS version 22.0 to estimate the interrelationships among the constructs in the proposed model. The results found a non-significant direct effect of leadership on people management, people management on resources and partnerships, and process management on business results. Contrastingly, significant effects were found of leadership on both policy and strategy and resources and partnerships, people management on process management, policy and strategy on both resources and partnerships and process management, resources and partnerships on process management, process management on continuous improvement and prevention, process management on people results, continuous improvement and prevention on people results and business results, and finally, positive influence of people results on business results. The significant constructs and relationships altogether form lhe Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Model. The findings indicate that leaders' commitment towards OSHMS implementation can prevent work-related accidents, reduce material loss and employees' absenteeism, increases their motivation, reduces costs and enhances the stakeholders' satisfaction. Ultimately, the adoption of OSI{MS among Jordanian companies positively affects their productivity, profitability, image, and reputation, hence improving the socio-economic position of the country. The implementation of the OSHMS provides insight into the interactions and influences that each enabler has on improving business excellence, which encompasses financial, non-financial, and OSH performances. This provides significant evidence of the compatibility between the EFQM criteria, worker protection, and corporate competitiveness.
