Involvement in entrepreneurship has, therefore, become the best way to evade the dependency on wage employment and simultaneously avoid being unemployed, particularly among young people. Unfortunately, entrepreneurial intention (EI), which measures people’s tendency to take up entrepreneurship, shows a less favorable percentage among Malaysians (17.6%) as compared to the Asian Region (26.23%), and the global rate (21.66%) as reported by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM). Apart from that, the main challenge in a country’s entrepreneurship development is its entrepreneurship education programs at the school level, especially in ensuring the desired impact of these programs. Nevertheless, the Malaysian government has continued the effort of realizing entrepreneurship as a career choice in 2030 by acknowledging the school cooperative program as a form of entrepreneurship education and the student's involvement in school cooperative as a co-curricular activity. Therefore, the primary purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of Malaysian students’ involvement in their school cooperative (CI) towards their tendency to opt for an entrepreneurship career (EI). This quantitative research employed a cross-sectional survey by distributing the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) among the students’ Cooperative Board Members. By using the multistage sampling technique, the researcher disseminated 600 questionnaires to selected school cooperatives in all states in Malaysia. The research received 486 but found only 469 responses were usable for the analysis through the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Next, the research employed the Phantom Model approach for the bootstrapping technique in testing the specific effect of the mediator. Additionally, the research also ran a moderator test through a multi-group analysis. The finding indicates that cooperative involvement (CI) has no direct effect on the students’ entrepreneurial intention (EI). However, the relationship between CI and EI is mediated by other factors, which are; the students’ personal attraction (PA), perceived social norm (PSN), perceived feasibility (PF), and the students’ entrepreneurial knowledge (EK). The analysis also found that the students’ religious entrepreneurial influence (REI) and age were significant as moderators in this research. In due course, this research provides an impact on entrepreneurs’ development and entrepreneurship education in Malaysia, particularly at the school level. The final model developed is in line with the Entrepreneurial Intention Model (EIM), which emphasizes the existence of PA, PSN, PF, EK, and REI to measure the EI of Malaysian secondary school students participating in school cooperatives. The cultivation of all the mentioned factors at an early age is indeed highly significant for the current employment condition, which urges Malaysians, especially young people, to make entrepreneurship as their first career choice.
