New leaders inherited colonial leader’s initiation; migration issues, colonial laws, economic and political challenges and border issues in their new independent states. In some states, it ends up in violence. The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN has recorded spate of conflicts in history, while the creation of the organization also bases on cooperation which leads to security. In the recent years, non-traditional security threats have made it complex and difficult for states to unilaterally handle security issue. Although, each conflict is of different nature and solution, majority of it reflects the political atmosphere and governmental policies of the concerned states. The principle of non-interference and ASEAN Way has restrained states to interfere, accuse or even to some extend reluctant to make mere comment on the action of another member state. Logically, ASEAN way encourage states to stick to her policy. Although, the principle of non-interference is commonly found in almost every organizational provisions, but the implementations are somehow flexible or conditioned. Regional leader usually plays crucial role in envisage stability of its region, while lack of regional leader can perpetuate insecurity of a given region. The research is qualitative in nature; historical and analytical methods are adopted in this paper; various useful materials were relied upon throughout the process of this research. The result of the paper argued that lack of clear regional leader had added to unresolved crises and lack of decisive decision making in ASEAN. Even though, potential leader was detected but lack able to play active role had made it like nonexistence. As a result, there is no solution to old and current crises in the region unless, regional leader become active. Finally, it recommended that more needs to be done to make ASEAN Charter inclusive, while it can only be realized if there is an active regional leader who will be ready to lead in all matters concerning the region.
