Rubber plantation was introduced to Malaysia during the British colonial era, due to Malaysian soil fertile for rubber plantation. Therefore, British then promoted Malaysia’s rubber plantation to the global community. However, in the past few years, Malaysia’s rubber price has been continuously declining, even though it appreciates sometimes but not as high as it was before during the colonial time. At present, the price of rubber seemly unstable due to numbers of rreasons. Therefore, this paper meant to study whether rubber industry is still relevant for Malaysian economy today, and what would be the impact for Malaysia economy as a developing country. The research adopts historical and analytical methods, whereby secondary sources such as books, articles in journal, official documents, and internet sources are utilized among others.
